However, the authors deserve some recognition so

Congrats to all the winner and runners-up!
ReplyDeleteAnd lovely to see an Honourable Mention for Cathy's imaginative reinterpretation of the Roma Nova brand.
A virtual glass of bubbly to all those in the post and to Helen, Cathy and Tamian for the hard job of judging. Off to spend some of my Christmas Amazon gift card!
It was such a pleasure working with you on the ROMA NOVA EXTRA cover this year! As you know, I love your books: the world you've cleverly created and so many intriguing characters!
DeleteThank you for that lovely virtual glass. It is a tough, but enjoyable job judging all the interesting covers. Congrats on your Honourable Mention Alison!
DeleteThis was a lovely unexpected surprise, and I'm thrilled that Pleasing Mr Pepys made this list! Congratulations to Angela - I'll be reading her book - and to all the designers of the gorgeous covers. Biggest thanks to Helen and her team of reviewers for all she does for the historical fiction community with this site.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Helen for this incredible honour, and for seeing past my novice errors which I'm kicking myself for. I was literally speechless this morning. I am wearing the most ridiculous grin, and I think it's on for the next day or two ... or three or four. Congratulations to all the winners and runners-up, so well deserved. It's hard to express here how truly overwhelmed I am. Thank you sounds so puny, but it is heart-felt.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your win Angela!
DeleteThank you so much Tamian.
DeleteCongratulations to the winners and runners up in both categories, but also winners are all the authors who submit their books and make it so very hard for the judges to decide. and a big thanks to the judges, too, for all their hard work. I really, truly, am looking forward to our 3rd year and all the fabulous books that will be coming our way!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone - and again Congratulations! Thanks again to Cathy and Tamian for taking the time to be our cover judges.
ReplyDeleteI must mention that I selected 'Blood And The Barley' because I feel that Discovering Diamonds has discovered a future, brilliant, writer - there are novice errors in the novel (see the review) but all writers start somewhere and indie writers do not have the advantage of the expertise of the traditional publishing houses - we have to finance everything ourselves, including editing. Angela admits that her novel should have had that additional edit to iron out the wrinkles - but our reviewer (J G Harlond) and myself recognise the potential of brilliant writing - that is why I started Discovering Diamonds at the end of 2016, I wanted to give encouragement where it is most useful and discover those diamond authors with their unpolished novels, eager to receive advice and encouragement, and to then write a second novel with skill and confidence.
I thoroughly enjoy seeing all of the book covers every month and I've added so many books to my pile of TBR thanks to Discovering Diamonds! It is an honour to be a part of the team!!
DeleteIt's been my pleasure to co-judge along with Cathy Helms! As I mentioned above, it's a tough, but enjoyable job. We are both honoured to be part of the team. Thank you too, to Cathy for choosing my winner of the year! My client will be thrilled.
DeleteCongratulations all - beautiful designs, and a lovely new book for my 2019 TBR pile in 'Blood and the Barley'- Thank you Helen and your team of reviewers and judges for making Discovering Diamonds such a vibrant and encouraging community for all-comers, new and not-so-new!
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly echo Liz's sentiments on all counts.
ReplyDeleteWell done to all the winners.
